Cold weather header

With cold weather and potentially snow on the way this weekend, it’s a good time to ensure your salon is prepared to avoid potential issues like burst pipes or water damage.

A little preparation now could save you a lot of stress and cost later.

Here are a few practical tips to protect your salon during freezing temperatures:

Keep the Heating On

When temperatures drop, it’s vital to keep your salon warm—even when it’s closed. Leaving the heating on low (around 12-15°C) helps to prevent pipes from freezing and bursting.

Insulate Pipes

If your salon has exposed pipes, make sure they are properly insulated. Foam pipe insulation is inexpensive, easy to install, and highly effective.

Know Where the Stopcock Is

Make sure you and your team know the location of the main water shut-off valve. In case of a leak or burst pipe, acting quickly can minimise damage.

Clear Gutters and Drains

Snow and ice can block gutters and drains, leading to leaks or water ingress. Take a few minutes to check and clear them of debris.

Review Your Insurance

Ensure your insurance policy covers risks like escape of water and business interruption. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out to us for advice.
